Gasing Traditional Game

Gasing is a kind of game that can rotate on its axis, while balancing at one point. Gasing is a traditional game of the Malays ever since. Usually played after the harvest season. Gaming game is contested between villages. Winners are calculated based on a spinning cycle. Gasing is made of fresh wood, kemuning, merbau, rambai, durian or kundang. The wood will be tucked-out and scraped so that it becomes a shape. String strap is made of new bark. But now the straps are made of nylon straps. Length of the straps usually depends on the length of a person's hands. Usually 1 meter long. Coconut oil is used to smooth out the movement of the base.
