775 students accredited as young liutenant APM


PKKSSAAS, UPM Serdang, 18 OGOS 2019; A total of 775 students from 21 Higher Education (IPT) throughout the country have been awarded the rank of Young Lieutenants at the 10th National Level Student Civil Defense Corps (SISPA Corps) Approval Ceremony.

The commissioning was delivered by Chief Minister, Dato ' Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari accompanied by the Commissioner of Malaysian Civil Defence Forces (APM), Dato ' Roslan Wahab and vice chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Prof. Datin Paduka Dato ' Dr Aini Ideris, in the Main Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre, UPM.

 Dr Aini said the accreditation was a platform to give support and passion to students in instilling the value of cooperation, leadership and volunteerism to achieve superior personality.

“The SISPA Corps is the only student organization that recognizes youth involvement in volunteer activities by the Civil Defense Force (APM).

"The commissioned officers have successfully followed all the co-curricular syllabus in addition to the training and courses required by the APM to be promoted," she said in her speech at the event.

 

Earlier, at the graduation ceremony held separately, 17 cadet officers were selected for Best Cadet Officer for outstanding performance throughout the program.

Dr Aini said the students who attended SISPA Corps training had the real advantage as they were not only provided with enthusiasm and self-confidence, but also injected various soft skills such as communication, leadership, problem solving and teamwork.

She said knowledge gained throughout the training became the best value addition to apply in any field.

"So, officers need to continue to maintain high discipline, besides leveraging on all knowledge, skills and public defence experience in facing more challenging lives beyond.

"They also need to ensure that every practice and practice is done correctly, sincerely, skillfully and efficiently to achieve perfection and high quality," she said.

The SISPA IPT Corps was formed in 2010 with the aim of strengthening soft skills as well as disseminating and educating on personal and public safety measures against possible disasters.

For the first time, UPM was given the trust to host the academic accreditation ceremony for the Ministry of Education, APM and the SISPA IPT Corps Commanders.

The accreditation also resulted in a total of 4,544 graduates.
