More efficient and productive rice cultivation

6/8/2019 PKKSSAAS UPM - 2019 National Rice Farmers Conference has been held organized by the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS), UPM in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry to bring together rice farmers and development agents with rice experts from all over Malaysia. The opening ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Salahuddin Ayub, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry and attended by Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris, UPM Vice Chancellor.

The objectives of the Conference were to provide exposure to rice farmers and development agents with the latest technologies in the field of agronomy and effective field management and to provide participants with the opportunity to share theoretical and practical experiences of efficient and productive paddy cultivation.

Presentations by specialists in agronomy and rice production, sharing of successes by rice farmers’ icons, national rice and rice industry forums, agricultural specialist clinics and agricultural innovation product exhibitions from various agencies were part of the activities.

Rice farmers in Malaysia are getting better now. Not only can they serve as lecturers to students in Agriculture at the University, but they are also capable of being good paper works presenters.

Well Done . . . !
