SERDANG, 9 Dec – The Alumni Association of the Reserve Officers Training Unit (PALAPES) U-PUTRA (ALPUTRA) is launched on the basis of a crusade to contribute to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the society and the country.
It was launched by Colonel (Honorary) of the Federal Volunteer Force Commandant PALAPES UPM, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris, who is also UPM’s Vice-Chancellor during the PALAPES UPM reunion ceremony.
Also present at the ceremony were high-ranking officer of the Malaysian Armed Forces, former college principals of Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah College (KOSASS), manager, head coach, staff and UPM coaches.
ALPUTRA was established to connect PALAPES and KOSASS alumni with the alma mater, to gather expertise from members of different fields that will benefit members themselves and the university, and to motivate and support PALAPES and the University, to organise college and university activities successfully.
The meeting of PALAPES UPM Alumni was held for the first time with the aim of gathering all alumni PALAPES, land army (1st to 36th intake) and navy army (1st to 11th intake). It was estimated that a total of 3000 alumni PALAPES UPM had been commissioned by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 1982 to 2017.
At the ceremony, ALPUTRA handed over a contribution of RM20,000 to UPM for student activities, especially for PALAPES UPM.
ALPUTRA also hopes to set up an ALPUTRA Foundation in the future. – UPM
