212 ARMY ROTU CADET OFFICERS OF THE 39TH PUBLIC UNIVERSITY CENTRAL ZONE 2 INTAKE COMMISSIONED AS JUNIOR OFFICERS

SERDANG, 17 January 2022 – A total of 212 Cadet Officers of the Army Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) were commissioned as Junior Officers in the Territorial Army Regiment, today.

All the Cadet Officers were commissioned in the Proclamation Ceremony of the Commissioning of the Rank of the 39th Army ROTU Cadet Officers Intake for Central Zone 2. The ceremony was graced by the Chief of the Malaysian Army (PTD), General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Zamrose bin Mohd Zain, held at the Great Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM Serdang.

In the same ceremony, Second Lieutenant Eddy Irwan bin Sidek was awarded as The Best Officer Cadet of UPM ROTU Army, while The Best Officer Cadet of UPNM ROTU Army was awarded to Second Lieutenant Mohamad Firdaus bin Adnan.

Following the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Royal Parade and Commissioning Ceremony that is held every year has been cancelled. Therefore, the ROTU Cadet Officer Commissioning and Proclamation Ceremony was carried out as symbolic of the Royal Commissioning Parade. This ceremony has been planned to be implemented in five

zones, expecting to involve 1,015 Army ROTU Cadet Officers from 16 public universities, who completed training in 2020.

Tan Sri PTD in his speech, hoped that the newly commissioned Junior Officers would be able to take advantage of all the experience, knowledge and skills learned during their three years of ROTU training at their respective universities. Tan Sri PTD also recommended that the newly commissioned Junior Officers fulfil their respective responsibilities by reporting to the 500 Territorial Army Series in order to continue to be actively involved in the Territorial Army military exercises so that the knowledge that has been acquired can be further developed. In addition, newly commissioned Junior Officers also have the opportunity to apply for the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) Tertiary Education Scheme or join the Military Forces before being accepted to be absorbed into the Permanent Military Force.

This kind of ceremony will continue to be held in three other zones, namely, Sarawak and Sabah Zone at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Central Zone 1 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and North Zone at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Indeed, this kind of commissioning ceremony is in line with the Second Pillar of the 28th PTD Supreme Command, which is "Organizational Integrity", which emphasises the aspects of strengthening professionalism, empowering one's identity and cultivating integrity as well as ethical and moral values.

Congratulations to all the Army ROTU Junior Officers who have been commissioned into the Territorial Soldier Regiment with the rank of Second Lieutenant.
