Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh and Greetings to all,

Welcome to the information gateway of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This portal displays information on the various arts and cultural services offered and use of facilities and equipment for academic, cultural, sports and other corporate events.

As an arts and cultural centre for UPM’s community and the public, PKKSSAAS is directly responsible for the planning and implementation of arts and cultural related activities. It includes a comprehensive exploration of the world of arts and culture of the multiracial ecosystem in order to enhance the understanding and appreciation of the campus community in recognising the role of heritage in preserving national unity.

When we talk about culture, the aspiration and focus of PKKSSAAS are not only limited to the initiatives based on aesthetic cultures such as dancing, singing and acting that are both cosmetic and entertaining, but also on the lifestyles, practices and behaviours that are based on noble values and awareness of the history of our nation, in line with the objectives and strategies set out in the National Cultural Policy.

 
Apart from the development and expansion of arts and culture, PKKSSAAS is also responsible for providing event venue facilities. PKKSSAAS consists of two (2) halls, the Main Hall and Experimental Theatre which can accommodate up to 3000 and 500 guests, respectively. Throughout 2019, PKKSSAAS had successfully serviced over 102 facility bookings: 55 bookings of the main hall and 47 bookings of the experiment theatre. 19 of these bookings involved external agencies such as government institutions, private agencies and non-governmental organisations. Records show that PKKSSAAS had serviced a total of 98 events in 2016, 88 events in 2017 and 104 events in 2018. Both halls are perfect as event venues for various events such as convocations, cultural and art shows, corporate events such as hi-teas and dinners (awards and recognition), exhibitions, conferences, talk shows, seminars, town halls meetings, indoor sports, etc., subject to the rules and regulations set by UPM.
